Young and Stupid

I am a recovering drug addict. I was once a happy, productive 15 yr. old kid who had everything he could want. But I abused that privilege to the fullest by cheating myself out of life.

I started smoking pot, quickly becoming a lier, a cheater, and a very untrustworthy person. Little did I know that would snowball into me becoming a full-blown drug addict, addicted to prescription drugs. I figured since they said ‘prescription’ there was no harm in them. But I soon found out how much harm I was causing everyone around that was in my life. I quickly turned from an active, happy and productive kid to a lying, cheating, and disgraceful person.

I’m writing this letter to all youth who think they can get through life using drugs, it wont work. You’r probably thinking this is a joke, but it’s the truth. Take a look at yourself, really look and see the disaster you’re about to become. It is the worst pain in the world to hurt the ones you love and to see the pain in your mother’s eyes when she looks at you. I am a son, brother, an uncle and I am doing everything possible to keep myself from going back to that terrible lifestyle.

All I ask is think of the pain you will cause everyone by using a stupid drug. It’s not worth it. Get control before you lose it all.

I am 20 yrs old and writing this letter from a rehabilitation center. So take it from me, don’t make the same mistakes I did.
