When its late afternoon and an office worker feels listless, restless and bored, is he allowed or does he want to go for a run in the park until he feels clear in body and mind to apply himself to the work. No, he makes himself a coffee.
Conditions of work for many are not much different to the schoolroom. People could be trusted to take some time out for relaxation in the day – but the reality for most is that work is just so tedious they could be tempted to overstay. Work has to be completed to deadlines and schedules. Work is not a time for creativity – just obedience to company rules.
In many ways our schooling is a preparation for the work place. Turn up neat and on time, to complete your scheduled tasks. Even in the schoolroom the creative arts are downgraded in status to being relatively easy cop out options, humanities play second fiddle to the pathway to true success – math, physics and chemistry in which you will need to get 99% plus to be assured of a brilliant career.
School sports are like competitions, children with average skills not keen on the dominant games will simply be labeled as uncoordinated and just no good at sports.
For the average kid who just wants to be normal and mix in with his mates school can sometimes be a challenge. A child who hasn’t developed good interactive skills, or who is being driven to achieve by his parents can easily begin to develop symptoms at school and elsewhere of attention deficiency disorder.
It has been said by some, but not heard it would seem, that the child with ADHD suffers from the trauma and conflict of not being heard as to his needs by those responsible for raising him, mainly his parents and school. Children who lack emotional support and who don’t quite fit the “mold” that society imposes are almost doomed to “get” ADD/ADHD.
No, they don’t have a genetic disease or disorder. They just have a healthy disposition to try and retain some autonomy. They suffer until those in control get their way. If the child still squiggles and squirms – there is always medication.
Those who choose to resort to drugs to get their own “way” with a child shouldn’t be too surprised if at some later time the child doesn’t choose drugs himself as a means to opt out of the system completely.
To be more flexible in the school room would not prepare children enough for the realities of life – a lifetime of servitude “earning” the right to simply have your own piece of turf. If we are deficient in our attention to the child with ADD/ADHD we miss an opportunity to make changes in our lives – mutually rewarding alternatives that would bring pleasure to all parties. But no, we grimly train our children to be the cogs in the wheel that we are, and we see that as being the only way that anyone can make a living.
Holistic counseling and therapies, which help you to listen to the child, will find out where the child needs help to feel emotionally content which naturally puts an end to the acting out, the squiggles and the squirming. Holistic counseling gives attention which is caring and effective – the very best remedy and counter balance for the problems faced by the attention deficient child – and with zero medication.
Child support has helped me so much in my life, would not be for it then my kids father would never shell out
