Helping Cocaine Addicts in Nova Scotia

In spite of the rise of cocaine use in the 1980’s, the numbers in the past ten years have held steady.

With no actual rise in use, both Canada and the United States are reporting less than two percent of the population using addictive drugs.

The numbers may actually be deceiving and a little higher, since drugs are illegal and not something many would admit to trying, much less using on a regular basis, so the results are based on those who have actually been honest about their drug use.

Even though a somewhat remote area, drug addiction in Nova Scotia is just as real as it is in any other part of Canada, but with the city of Halifax being the home to almost half of the million residents of Nova Scotia, finding addiction help can be a challenge, but there are reputable facilities available.

While many of those who have admitted to regular cocaine use are adults, surprisingly men are more likely to use and also abuse cocaine than women. As with all drug addiction, cocaine doesn’t discriminate based on a person’s economic background, and once used, no one is exempt from possible addiction.

Ontario drug rehab clinics can be located throughout the province, with many locations in the larger cities such as Toronto and Ottawa and can offer help for either you or your loved one.

While some tend to believe that 90% of those who use cocaine are recreational users, leaving the remaining 10% as addicts, I would tend to think the actual numbers are much higher than that.

* Every addict I’ve ever spoken said that their addiction started as recreational use.

Eventually, that recreational use led to using a little more and a little more, until without even realizing, they’d found themselves addicted. One friend of mine said that the best thing those addicts could have ever done was check into a Drug Rehab Clinic in Alberta, and they credit to ultimately saving their life.

Most cities offer reputable rehab facilities that can literally help you get control of your life and get yourself back on track and living for yourself, and not for your next fix. If you find yourself struggling with addiction, know that you aren’t alone, and help is available.
