This could be through an overdose or a reaction having to do with the heart or brain. Long term use can lead to medical conditions and damage to the liver, kidneys, heart and the brain as well as mental problems with seizures, paranoia and schizophrenia. Even over the counter drugs can be harmful if consumed inappropriately or a child accidentally gets a hold of them.
Not only can drugs physically or fatally hurt a person, they can also lead to an addictive lifestyle that can ruin a person’s life, finances, relationships and feeling of self-worth. A person can end up losing everything if he gets addicted to drugs, and this can happen with some prescription drugs as well as illegal ones. It can also happen with the use of excessive alcohol consumption.
Drugs can also be dangerous to society in general. A person could decide to commit a crime such as a robbery. Many of these criminals do so because they are in need of more drugs and the only thing their brain can now communicate to them is the desire for another fix instead of the difference between right and wrong. This is not an excuse for doing the criminal act, it is unfortunately the reason behind many of them, though.

Police officers are called daily to homes dealing with domestic violence situations. Often the investigation finds that drugs or alcohol played at least an indirect role in the family situation going on. Fights in bars are usually alcohol related; teens and college students fail classes due to drug and alcohol use.
People who use drugs are not in their right mind figuratively at the time of use. This leads to decisions that can be dangerous, such as operating a motor vehicle after drinking or getting high. They can also have unprotected sex with strangers and end up with an STD, HIV or AIDS, or be led to an area where they find themselves robbed, raped, murdered.
Why are drugs dangerous? Because they affect you in more ways than one and excessive drug use ALWAYS affects the mind and leads to paths of irresponsibility, bad choices, health problems and possibly even fatalities.
So that you can have the chance to stop letting drugs lead you and you can begin leading a fulfilling life again.
