How and Where to Get Drug Addiction Help

There are many different theories on the best methods to help with drug addiction.

There are some people who actually Detox at home but find they need further help after that stage is complete. Others prefer to have help from the very start. There is no right or wrong way.

Help is normally only a phone call away. One could look in the phone book, or go online and read through the different descriptions of rehabs in their area. It isn’t wise to just choose randomly when deciding on a rehabilitation center. Some rehabs substitute one drug for another for withdrawal and others use all natural, but effective methods to ease the symptoms of withdrawal. Some rehab centers teach that the addict is powerless over the addiction and others believe that the addict has incredible power over the addiction. Not all drug rehabs are created equal.

Only the most severe cases get treatment in hospitals. Most rehab is done at either inpatient or outpatient treatment centers. Outpatient centers normally have people come in once or twice a week and many have people Detox at home. Inpatient centers are fully equipped to help a person through Detox and the first stages of rehabilitation. Thirty to forty five days is a reasonable amount of time to expect to stay at an inpatient rehab.

* Consider the real needs of the addict before choosing a rehab.
